Dinger,It is basically a Kauffman with a twist. I personally don't want my golden stones to be as "thick" as the original Kauffman, by all means they aren't skinny but turning over rocks the goldens...

Brian,As a matter of interest, why do you favor a bead head version of the SFN.My experience with this fly is that it is better without the bead, with added weigth to the fly body or with added weight...

Davy,Well honestly I started tying the stones with the bead because then I wasn't able to build a head very well and it made an already pain in the butt fly to tie that much harder for me...then....

John,Yes, the actual Kauffman catches fish. I use that pattern in the darker colors because the darker stones are the bigger ones (of course ) Won't leave home without it....I guess the river is...

When do the tricos hatch on the upper Fork? We had a weird trico hatch here on the lower river in September and October a couple of years ago. It was a huge hatch that I'd of sworn was a midge hatch...
